|Home Study Applications Rejected for Students 18+
The Louisiana Department of Education (LDE) has decided to reject home study applications for students who are 18 or older. Also, against the wishes of the legislature, LDE staff attorneys have taken it upon
themselves to decide that the law we got passed a few years ago concerning diplomas issued by approved home study programs will not be applied retroactively even though nothing in our application
requirements has changed.
HSLDA is preparing to take action anyway. In order to determine the most effective course of action, HSLDA would like to first hear from people who have been directly affected, members and The Home
School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) says they have not yet received any direct complaints from their members. However, because of the potential harm of LDE's new policies, nonmembers alike.
So, if you received your Home Study Application back rejected because your student has already seen his 18th birthday, or if a potential employer or a trade school has asked your homeschool graduate to take a
GED because his Home Study Diploma is not acceptable, Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) would like to hear from you immediately!
